Expectations

To many, the beginning of a school year comes with much excitement. As for any (hopefully) graduating high school students, the last year in high school brings mixed feelings of nostalgia, angst, and even dread, as one thinks of whether one will march to the stage… wahaha.. as a graduating student, senior student, I face much pressure and expectations. New set of teachers, classmates and subjects.. first time I heard of finite math.. huwaw... -Mahirap toh! Finite Math!! Sosyal!- but then, by the time I heard of sets... probability... factorial.. I realized lahat pala madali bsta pinag-aaralan. Oh well, it is not hard for me to adjust, kasi naman ang teacher ko pla sa finite math ay ang aking napakagandang adviser nung third year ako... presenting.. binibining Maybelle Gallardo!! Napaka sayang isipin na itong teacher na to ay dalawang taon ko pla makakasama! Wooh! At eto pa!

Aun.. ahaha...

Memorable Moments

a. Aha

Aha… now I know... as usual... I said a wyl ago that first time kong na encounter ang subject na Finite Math.. well, I learned so many things.. Since I was in elementary and up to third year, Permutations, combinations and factorial were never included in our math discussions.. now I know how to compute problems discussing these matters.. dati kasi I thought it was so hard to figure out the solutions to these stuffs. Thanks to our teacher, she thought us the formulas for us to understand the systematic way of calculating this subject..

b. Eureka Moments

Actually, I really don*t have any Eureka moments except to the fact that I discover that I can do jobs the calculator does.. but even though I can*t work out problems and figure out their solutions so fast, I realized that I know how to perform problems regarding Probabilities, factorials, binomial expansion, and a lot more..

c. Discouraging moments

Discouraging moments ba sabi mo? Naku!! Ilalock pa ang pinto.. hai.. oh well.. it seems fair enough.. sometimes! Kasi palagi daw namin ginagawa un! Sabi nya..

Eto nalang.. let*s feed our mind with quotable quotes para naman di na palaging discouraging ang moments natin with Mam Gallardo..

  • -Each of us is given by God equal time-24 hours a day. It is up to us if we want to use this time and how we want to use it.-

  • -it is all right to compromise, as long as it is not a matter of principles-

  • -Dedication to work, discipline, fairness, trustworthiness, patience, simplicity contribute to the chances of success..-

  • -I don*t give up easily. I look for solutions to problems and I work hard to find solutions. When anyone tells me he can*t, I ask why can*t you?-

  • -We should not waste anything.. it is not right..-

  • -there are countless ways to earn an honest living..-

  • -Only the first-million is difficult to make. After that, the rest is easy..-

d)-If I am the teacher..-

-In order for you to understand a person, you must put yourself into his shoes...-

If I am the teacher.. I would allow my students to eat during the class.. bakit? If only teachers allow us to eat during class hours, makakarating siguro kami sa kalase sa oras.. I hope so..

Our choices make us different. In addition, in them, we oblige ourselves to paint our lives, no matter how light, how keen, how dark, and how queerly represented. Our lives are dependent on our hands just as like we are holding a paintbrush and striking it on a blank canvas. Sometimes as we brush the colors, we make changes. In this world, all are temporary except the undying effect of change. Change is the assumption of nature.

Sometimes, no matter how we try to change things, there are things unchangeable and uncertain. Every story has two sides and it is a matter of faith in which side we are. We must bind ourselves with principles and with these principles; we can clearly define ourselves from others. Yet, with all these, love amidst differences binds us, leading us to a common goal. Having common vision, the world sees us in similarity.

...Ala lang...

The idea of saying no seems to fill some people with absolute dread. When I ask people what they think will happen if they say no to someone, they say:

  • -They won*t like me.-
  • -They*ll think I can*t cope.-
  • -They*ll think I*m being obstructive.-
  • -I won*t be asked again.- (a positive advantage in some cases you might think!)
  • -They*ll think I*m being rude.-
Some of us obviously feel that saying no is a very destructive thing to do, and if we take the fantasies about what will happen further, by asking -And what will happen if they think you can*t cope-, we often eventually get to the fear, -I*ll lose my job-. So the fear of the consequences of saying no can go very deep, even if only sub-consciously. It is understandable why people find it so difficult to say.

However, if I say -What happens if you say -Yes- all the time?- most people will readily admit that this is not the solution:

  • -I*ll get overloaded.-
  • -I won*t be able to do it in time.-
  • -I won*t be able to do it very well.-
  • -I*d probably let them down.-

The difference between the two is that there is a lot more gut feeling and emotion involved in fear of saying no. So why do we feel so strongly about saying no?

Most people agree that if someone says no to them and they have a good reason, that makes the no more acceptable, so point one is that where possible, if you explain your reasons, people will often accept that you need to say no, or that it is also in their interests for you to say no.

What many people don*t realize is that a powerful way of saying no acceptably is to show that you understand the other person*s needs or preferences. This shows that you are thinking not just about yourself, but also about them. So you might say something like:

-No, I*m sorry, I realize it*s urgent that you get it done
but I wouldn*t be able to do that for you today.-

Most aspects of harmony in communication involve keeping a balance between the people involved. Saying no to someone puts them in a one-down position but giving reasons, empathizing, offering an alternative, or helping them to problem-solve, helps to restore the balance. The other person may still be irritated or feel upset by your no but that may be because they take a while to deal with their own feelings. That*s their responsibility, not yours.

ABC... Teacher

-Mentors help widen our individualities-

Passion for work and love for students serve as foundations that compromise a teacher.

Money and dedication can never show equalities. Yes, money can finance a teacher but it cannot compare to the essence of being a teacher: the appreciation they receive from the students.

Teachers cherish each passing moments with their students by teaching them right conduct and giving them information about life. Teachers have big impacts on us. For instance, the way they speak their attitudes, and the pieces of advice they give. Neither positive nor negative influences, mentors still contribute in shaping our characters. Odd as it may seem, students acquire a certain quality that belongs to a teacher because there is interaction between them.

As time passes by, we step on higher grounds and meet new faces. We sometimes forget those people, the teachers, who inspired us. Teachers are one of the most important luminaries in a person*s life. This, we recognize and respect them for they are our secondary parents...
